Spring 2026 Update

Dear friends,

It’s been quite a while since my last newsletter, and a great deal has happened since then, so I wanted to share a few updates and thank you again for following my work.

The past year has been an exciting and deeply rewarding one for me. I’ve been especially grateful for the response to Five Scenes for Orchestra since its release last August. The album received international broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and WDR, and was selected for IDAGIO’s Editor’s Weekly Picks. Music critic and historian Ted Gioia also named the album one of the Top 100 Recordings of 2025, and the German classical magazine Fono Forumpraised it as “skillfully crafted and technically accomplished.”

It’s been wonderful to see the music continue finding listeners internationally, and for those who may have missed it, Five Scenes for Orchestra remains available on CD, Vinyl, Dolby Atmos, and all major digital platforms. Physical editions can still be ordered online, and I’ll include links below for anyone interested.

At the same time, I’ve been working toward the release of my next album, Romanza, which arrives on May 22.

Centered around a 20-minute tone poem for string orchestra, percussion, and piano solo, Romanza is in many ways a continuation of the musical world I began exploring in Five Scenes for Orchestra, though in a more intimate and lyrical direction. The work unfolds as a single continuous emotional journey built around a recurring theme representing love, memory, vulnerability, and human connection.

The album was recorded in Budapest with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra and features pianist Marouan Benabdallah. In addition to the complete work, the album also includes several excerpted movements drawn from the larger piece.

One of the great joys of the recording process was the opportunity to work so closely with Marouan on shaping the performance. During rehearsals in Budapest, including sessions together at the Liszt Academy, we spent many hours exploring the emotional core and finer details of the work. It was a rare luxury to have that kind of time, care, and collaboration devoted to the music, and I’m deeply grateful for it.

Two singles are already available digitally, and the full album will release next week on CD, digital platforms, and in Dolby Atmos. CD pre-orders and streaming links are available below through Linkfire.

One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been continuing collaborations with many of the extraordinary artists and engineers who also worked on Five Scenes for Orchestra. Over the past year I’ve spent countless hours working closely with recording engineer and mixer Anton Langer, mastering engineer Christoph Stickel, filmmaker Sascha Knorr, designer Martin Rowsell, and painter Torsten Wolber, all of whom brought tremendous care and artistry to this release.

I’ve especially loved seeing the visual world of the album take shape through Martin’s design work and Torsten’s paintings, which continue the artistic language we first developed for Five Scenes for Orchestra.

In addition to the album itself, we’ve created a series of new 4K performance videos that will be released through my YouTube channel beginning May 22, including the complete filmed performance of Romanza from the recording sessions in Budapest.

We’ve also released a short documentary featurette about the making of the album, which is already available now on my website and YouTube channel, and I’ll include a link below for anyone interested in watching it.

Alongside these releases, I’ve also been deep in work on several new projects, including a symphony and a number of chamber works that I hope to share more about in the coming months.

Thank you again for your interest, encouragement, and support. It means a great deal to me to be able to share this music directly with you, and I’m very grateful you’re here.

Warm wishes,

Nathan
